Kinky-Curly Review

So with all of the hype with Kinky-Curly hair products going on, I had to try myself to see what was all of the hype about. I tried the Come Clean Shampoo and the Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner. The products are sold at Target, Whole Foods, and online. The price does vary and I paid $9.99 for both the shampoo and conditioner. My verdict is that, both of the shampoo and conditioner worked wonders for my hair. The Come Clean Shampoo cleaned my hair very well and when I added the Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner, it was just the icing on the cake with my curls. It defined each curl and left my hair very soft and untangled. I am very pleased with the product and looking forward to using it more in the future. I have already used the Curling Custard and my hair loves that as well. I would most definitely recommend the products to all of my natural hair lovelies!

My Hair Relationship with EVOO

As most of us hair fanatics know, that we don't just use Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)just for cooking, we also use it for our hair. I for one swear by EVOO for my hair. Now that I have color as well as highlights, that is critical for my hair. I have to admit, that I am a product junkie and I have been trying different kinds of oils for my hair but, all of the time, I am heading right back to EVOO. It also helps my hair when it is humid outside to reduce the fizz. I take about a quarter size in my hand and apply to my roots down to the ends. It is light and it does not weigh my hair down.

Follow-Up Product Review

Follow-up (sorry that I am so late) to my experience with Shea Moisture...

Product ReviewProduct Review of Shea Moisture: As I was excited to try these products, sad to say, that I did not like them. The line is organic however, I was not impressed on how my hair turned out from it. It may work for others but, it did not work for me. It left my hair brittle-like and my natural hair is not like that.

OMG so today is my official first day back in school, my journey towards getting my Bachelor's degree and what happens??? I have hay fever...yes! Just my luck. Here are some products that I will be reviewing soon so stay tuned...

**Organic Root Stimulator Edge Control
**Kinky-Curly Organic Shampoo
**Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Life of a Product Junkie - I am excited to try the following...

I have been reading the raves and reviews on the product, Shea Moisture. I have decided to try it out and see what all of the hype is about. There is nothing wrong with trying out new products in my book. Plus, I am a product junkie so it was in my nature to try it. I purchased the following from Target for $9.99 each. You can also purchase their line of products from Walgreens and I think Whole Foods too if I can recall.

The product review will soon to follow...

Shout out to my sister from another mother, Tiffani...I am going to try the puff girlie. I just hope it turns out right this time since this is my struggle style.

Tree Braids - The Take Down

Yesterday, I took out my tree braids. That was my mid-winter/early spring protective style. I kept them in my hair for 2 months and now it is time to get back to conditioning and maintaining my natural hair. From the time of wearing the braids, my hair has grown a little over an inch. Now I can get with that, lol! The funny thing was that when I was taking my braids out, I noticed that the hair and my hair was about the same length and the fullness was the same. I just wanted to share. I entitled the picture...my hair vs the weave...

My overall review of the tree braids will be a definite plus. All of my hair was braided up and the lady who did my braids left my edges out to prevent breakage. As the hair got older, I received more compliments and I enjoyed every day with them. However, all fun has to come to an end and having that style for 2 months was definitely a stretch for me. Just because I always love to change my look :-). I will switch from wearing my natural hair in it's state, to pressed, to falls, to sew ins, to whatever in a snap.

Now that I've seen my hair in a kind of "blow out" style, I think I am going to experience more with blow outs.

Product Review - Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste

Okay, so I should have been supplied my review of this product (sorry for the slacking) but I have been on a hunt for a great pomade for my edges. My edges are my struggle as I continue to maintain my healthy and natural hair. I have tried multiple pomades but none held to a smooth consistency. They all caused my hair to curl right back up.

I was shopping at Target (one of my favorite stores) and came across the Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste. It was $7.99 and I said that I'll give it a try since it contains all natural ingredients. I must say, that this is BY FAR my favorite pomade HANDS DOWN! I apply it to my edges, tie my scarf and about 30 minutes later, my edges are smooth and heat-free! Not to mention, that it lasts all day long. That impressed me the most. It works wonders for my edges and I would recommend it to anyone. You only need a little when you apply it and I can finally through all my other pomades away.

Until then, peace and love!

Hold On to Your Peace

As we all deal with people in our lives who try to "bring us down", God does not want for us to cast on the enemy, He wants for us to pray for them. This message from Joel Osteen Email Ministries have spoke to me as I continue on with my journey to be successful. Have a blessed day, everyone! Hold On to Your Peace

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

"Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:28, NIV).

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

I've learned that some people are peace stealers. They feel like it's their calling in life to aggravate you, try to make you look bad, and tell you what you can't do. They'll try to bait you into an argument to get you upset, annoyed and frustrated. But don't take the bait! Nothing is worth losing your peace over. They may think they're getting the best of you, but in the end, God can use that to take you higher. When people come against you, choose to keep your peace. Choose to forgive. Pray for that person because that's how you disarm the enemy against you. Scripture says your battle isn't against flesh and blood. In others words, that person isn't your enemy; the accuser—Satan—is your enemy. He's trying to bring division and get you upset. But when you choose to keep peace, when you keep walking in love and keep a smile on your face, you are overcoming his tactics. That's how you win. Today, choose peace, choose to walk in love, and choose the victory God has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, thank You for giving me Your peace and strength today. I choose to hold my peace and bless those who come against me. I choose to walk in love and forgiveness so that I can honor You in all that I do. In Jesus' Name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen

Natural Hair Protective Style - Tree Braids

Winter in Cleveland, Ohio can be very brutal to your hair. Especially, if you have natural hair. I have been fighting with shedding and somewhat dryer hair. Usually, my hair retains it's own oils pretty well ever since I completed my transition in 2010 but this winter I have noticed some changes. I also have encountered some breakage. (NOT GOOD) A friend of mine had some tree braids and I was stunned that they were because her hair was so beautiful. I called the lady who did her tree braids and got them as well. I love them! I have received so many compliments on them so I will definitely be getting again in the summer. They are definitely a benefit since I am in boot camp and I don't have to worry about sweating my hair out.

Starbucks Chai Latte

I love Starbucks coffee! The one beverage that I always buy from Starbucks is their Chai Latte's. My favorite is the Chai Latte with a shot of vanilla and soy milk...yum! With the Chai Latte, you should top it off with their Reduced Fat Turkey Bacon breakfast sandwich...a perfect combination! Since it is Lent season, I've decided to give up Starbucks so we shall see how this holds. I must pray for strength as I go through my "withdrawals" LOL!

Cheers to the Freakin Weekend...

I'll drink to that...yeah, yeah! Finally, it is the weekend! This weekend, I promise to get more to blogging. Right now, I am sketchy on designing. I used to be so good at this but I haven't played with HTML codes in a long time and now it is like rocket science to me, lol! Anyway, I did not workout today but I am planning on going hard "in the paint" tomorrow morning. Tonight, I am going to play catch up on my DVR. Until then, peace and blessings loved ones! Fitness Science

The spring season is near and that means, the coats are coming off. I must admit, I have gained some weight over the winter months and now it is time to get it back together. I have joined Weight Watchers at work as well as a great boot camp called Fitness Science. I love Weight Watchers since it has been successful to me 2 times and the boot camp is new to me. However so far, I like it. I advice for all to incorporate some kind of physical activity in their lives. It really is a stress reliever. I am looking forward to the Zumba classes that will be coming to Fitness Science since I am a HUGE FAN of Zumba! Check them out! http://www.fitnessscienceonline.com/
